October 13th is the final Farmers Market of the 2007 Season!

FARMERS’ MARKET Saturday, October 13, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Buy fresh - buy local! Local, fresh foods. WIC & Sr. nutrition farm market program tokens accepted. Contact Market Manager: Staci Curry at 466-3787

Some of the items you'll find this week at the market: various winter squash, potatoes, onions, green peppers, apples, pears, eggs, chili peppers, cheeses, garlic, pumpkin seeds, tomatoes, pumpkins, various granolas, celery, jams and jellies, honey, mums, goat milk soap.

After a wonderful harvest, we now have reached the end of the season for the Angelica Farmers' Market. This coming Saturday, October 13th, will be the last market of the 2007 season. Come stock up on fresh, local produce! Be prepared to come with galoshes and raincoat if need be! Many of the fall harvest items like winter squash, onions, garlic, potatoes, honey, apples, and beets store well into the winter. Store them in root cellar-type conditions, cool and moist. If you would like a larger amount of something from the market, you can let Staci Curry know in advance and she will connect you with a vendor who can have it ready for you.

Thank you for helping make this farmers' market a complete success! We look forward to next season, June 28th - October 11th, 2008. We are already planning ways to make the market even better next time around. By shopping at our market this year you have kept money in the community, saved energy, built community, and fed yourself nutrient-rich foods.

Ways to continue eating local food: -Demand it! When your grocery clerk asks you if you found everything you were looking for, say, "actually, I was looking for local produce."
-In restaurants, ask which entrees or wines are from local sources.
-Our state government considers farming related legislature regularly. Register your support for laws that help local farms.
-Come back to the Angelica Farmers' Market next season!
