Heritage Days August 3, 4 & 5 Schedule Here (pdf)

An annual event since 1969! The first weekend every August!

Make your plans now to come to Heritage Days this year! Along with a giant craft, antique, and flea market in the Park Circle, enjoy some of the other events that draw thousands of visitors to our beautiful historic town for the Angelica Heritage Days. Here are some of the events:

  • A wagon ride through the East Main St. section of the Park Circle National Historic District and a tour of Until the Day Dawn Cemetery will highlight the 38th annual Heritage Days, to be held the weekend of August 3-5 in Angelica. The event is sponsored by the Angelica Booster Citizens and also will feature a roque (croquet) tournament, an antique tractor pull, and a variety of musical entertainment.

  •  Founded in 1805, Angelica is the oldest township in Allegany County. It was the first county seat and is the home of the original county courthouse. Built in 1819 and in continuous public use since then, the courthouse (now the Town Hall) is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The Park Circle as well as much of Main Street has been designated an Historic District.

  • David Fleming, knowledgeable local historian, will lead the cemetery tours and talk about a number of the pioneer settlers that rest in Until the Day Dawn. The tours will be given at 12:30 pm & 2:30 pm on Saturday & Sunday. The cost is $7.00, and seating is limited.

  • Croquet is an Angelica tradition that dates back to the 19th century. The unique court—a clay surface with oak plank sideboards—will be the stage for the semifinals of the annual tournament on Saturday, at 10:00 am & 2:30 pm. The championship match is scheduled for Sunday at 1:30 pm.

  • The weekend festival kicks off at 6:00 pm on Friday night with an antique tractor pull. This event was a hit of the 2005 Bicentennial activities and returned for an encore last year. A section of Center Street will be closed off where the pulling power of these old workhorses will be put to the test.

  • Also on Friday night, beginning at 6:30 pm, Down Home Country will play on the lawn at the Angelica Sweet Shop on Main Street.

  • Hometown favorite Salty Austin returns to lead the Saturday entertainment lineup with an 11:00 am performance in the Park Circle bandstand. Next up, at 12:00 Noon, is the Band of Brothers, a group from the Nunda area, followed at 2:00 pm by Fred McCarty, a singer and songwriter originally from Wellsville and now based in California.

  • On Saturday evening, at 7:30 pm, the High Banks Boomers will entertain in the Assembly Hall of the Angelica Free Library. A slide show of vintage railroad photos will accompany their performance.

  • On Sunday, the Hardy Brothers, from Belfast, will perform at 12:00 Noon in the bandstand. Playing at 2:00 pm will be Brother Dietze & The Dixie Boys, from Andover.

  • Corporate sponsors for this year’s Heritage Days entertainment are Angelica Enterprises Inc., Bainbridge Family Farm, Brown & Powers Funeral Home, Community Bank, Phillips Angelica Forest Products, PR Engine Science, and Steuben Trust Company.
